2025-2026
On behalf of the International Commission of Jurists (Canada), in collaboration with the law firm Conway Baxter Wilson (Ottawa), lead counsel in an intervention before the Supreme Court of Canada in the case English-Montreal School Board v. Québec (Attorney General) (factum only), case no. 41231, concerning the constitutional challenge of Bill 21 on laïcity/secularism, in particular the use of the notwithstanding clause of the Canadian Charter (with prof. E. Mendes, Universit y of Ottawa).
On behalf of the Quebec chapter of the International Commission of Jurists (Canada), in collaboration with many organisations including the International Indian Treaty Council, the Ligue des droits et libertés Avocats sans frontières (Canada) and Amnistie internationale Canada (francophone), submission before the UN Special Rapporteurs to challenge the validity, in view of the international rule of law and fundamental human rights, Bill 1, 'constitution' of Quebec (with prof. Miriam Cohen and prof. Karine Millaire).
On behalf of the International Commission of Jurists (Canada), in collaboration with the law firm McCarthy Tétrault (Toronto), second chair in an intervention before the Supreme Court of Canada in the case Alford v. Canada (Attorney General), case no. 41336 (factum only), concerning the challenge to the federal legislation on national security on the basis of parliamentary privilege and freedom of expression of members of parliaments (with A. Goldenberg, McCarthy Tétrault).

As a professor at the Faculty of law, University of Montreal and in collaboration with the law firm Dentons (Montréal), intervention before the Inter-American Court of Human Rights with the submission of an amicus curiae brief (written observations) in the course of an advosory opinion initiated by Argentina, on "The content and scope of care as a human right and its interrelationship with other rights" (with prof. M. Cohen and doctorate student S.-M. Vincent-Wright).

On behalf of the Observatoire des mesures visant la sécurité nationale at the Faculty of Law, University of Montreal and in collaboration with the law firm Dentons (Montréal), lead counsel in an intervention before the Supreme Court of Canada in the case of R. v. Bissonnette, 2022 CSC 23 (factum and oral arguments), dealing with the provision allowing for the imposition of consecutive 25-year parole ineligibility periods for the multiple murders at the Quebec City Mosque, more specifically on the analytical framework for internlegality and the role of international criminal law to interpret the Criminal Code (with prof. M. Cohen and doctorate student S.-M. Vincent-Wright).

On behalf of the International Commission of Jurists (Canada), in collaboration with the law firm Dentons (Montreal), second chair in an intervention before the Supreme Court of Canada in the case Ward c. Quebec (Commission des droits de la personne et des droits de la jeunesse), 2021 CSC 43 (factum only), in a case of highly offensive jokes challenged on the basis of the Quebec Charter of human rights and freedoms, specifically on how to reconcile freedom of artistic expression, the right to dignity and non -discrimination (with G. Régimbald, Gowling, and prof. E. Mendes, University of Ottawa).
